Hi, I’m Paul Wang.

Between 2020 and 2021, I began to develop an interest in sound recording. As someone who is not good at conversing with others, field recording allows me to immerse myself in the non-human world and to connect with the outside world through sound, rather than sinking into a state of self-isolation.

For me, recording is not merely about capturing sound; it is a way of returning, through listening, to a tranquil moment in memory. I believe that modern urban living has caused us to forget our instinct to listen. Therefore, I created this website to share my recordings, hoping to give people a moment of calm amidst the noise of life.

The name of this website, “Zikade,” is the German word for “cicada.” The sound of cicadas in summer always evokes a deep sense of nostalgia for me.

關於網站名稱，”Zikade”是德語”蟬”的意思，夏日的蟬鳴，總是會喚起我心中的鄉愁。
