Cueifong Lake Circular Trail, April 27, 2025
Because Cuifeng Lake is a popular tourist destination, when I returned in April 2025, I began searching for other locations better suited for recording. In addition to the lakeside viewing platform, the area also offers several trails, including the Circular Trail, the Wangyangshan Trail, and the Taiwan Beech Trail.
The Circular Trail has two entrances, one on the east side and one on the west. Although I’ve visited several times, I’ve only completed the full loop twice. Based on those experiences, I’ve found that bird activity tends to be more abundant near both entrances, while the environment becomes notably quieter about one kilometer in. About one kilometer from the east entrance lies the well-known Ordovician mossy tundra, where I’ve previously made recordings. This time, I chose to enter from the west, hoping to explore something different.
This segment is part of a recording made between 7:00 and 8:00 in the morning; the latter half will be shared next month. In spring, before 8 a.m., the air around Cuifeng Lake still carries a lingering moisture, accompanied by the resonant calls of Moltrecht’s tree frogs from the distant lakeshore, blending with the layered chorus of birds.
太平山翠峰湖環山步道 - 第一部分
因為翠峰湖是遊客熱區，2025年4月我再次造訪時，便開始尋找其他更適合錄音的地點。除了觀湖平台之外，這裡還有環山步道、望洋山步道以及山毛櫸步道可供選擇。
環山步道設有東口與西口兩個出入口。雖然我造訪過好幾次，但完整走完的經驗只有兩次。根據這兩次的觀察，我大致感覺在東、西口附近的鳥類活動較為頻繁；而從入口往內走約一公里之後，環境則變得格外靜謐。從東口進入約一公里處，便是著名的奧陶紀苔原區，我之前已在那裡錄過音，因此這次決定從西口進入，試試不同的可能。
這段錄音取自早上 7 點到 8 點之間的一部分，下半段將於下一篇分享。春季的翠峰湖，在早上 8 點以前，森林中的空氣仍帶著濕潤的氣息，伴隨著遠方湖畔莫氏樹蛙的共鳴，以及此起彼落的鳥鳴合唱。
