August 31, 2026, marked the last day of summer as well as the final day of the students’ summer vacation. Although there was no typhoon that day, the wind was unusually strong.
This recording was made at around 2 p.m. in the succulent garden at Taipei Botanical Garden. I held the microphone in my hand and pointed it toward Nanmen Junior High School to capture the surrounding soundscape.
In the recording, you can hear the plants rubbing against one another as they sway in the strong wind. A red-bellied squirrel in a tree ahead can also be heard calling from time to time. In addition, the school seemed to be carrying out construction work during the summer break, and the recording occasionally picks up workers talking and the sounds of machinery in operation.

2026 年 8 月 31 日，夏天的最後一天，也是學生暑假的最後一天。當天雖然沒有颱風，風卻異常地大。
這段錄音是在下午 2 點左右，於植物園的多肉植物區錄製的。我手持麥克風，朝著南門國中的方向收錄環境的聲音。
錄音中，可以聽見植物在強風吹動下相互摩擦的聲音。前方樹上有一隻赤腹松鼠，不時發出叫聲。此外，學校似乎趁著暑假進行施工，錄音中偶爾也能聽見工人的交談聲與機具運轉的聲音。
