The stillness of Taipingshan always makes me want to return. Although I have visited Taipingshan many times, I had only been there in autumn once before, more than ten years ago. The weather was clear and the temperature pleasant at the time. I was fortunate on this visit as well, with only light rain from evening until early morning.
In October, the birds at Taipingshan seemed less vocal. For much of my time walking along the trails, it felt as though the only sound was the movement of air. I used my phone to measure the ambient noise level, which ranged from around 26 to 45 dB. Sometimes, I would stop walking and immerse myself completely in the stillness. In those moments, the restless thoughts in my mind seemed to settle as well.
This time, I chose the same recording location I had used in March last year. Apart from visitors chatting and laughing, as well as the noise of vehicles and aircraft engines, the area was mostly quiet during the rest of the day. Only in the early morning and at night could I occasionally hear the faint calls of birds and insects.

太平山望洋山步道, 2026年10月
太平山的靜謐總讓人想再次造訪。不過，回想過去的經驗，我在秋季造訪太平山，只有十多年前那一次，當時天氣晴朗，氣候舒適。這次再度造訪，運氣也很好，只有傍晚到清晨這段時間下著小雨。
十月份的太平山，鳥兒似乎不太鳴叫了。漫步在步道上的大部分時間，彷彿只能聽見空氣流動的聲音。我用手機測量環境噪音，數值大約介於 26 至 45 dB 之間。有時，我會停下腳步，讓自己完全沉浸在這片寧靜之中。此刻，內心紛亂的思緒似乎也隨之平靜下來。
這次我選在與去年三月相同的地點錄音。除了遊客的交談與嬉鬧聲，以及車輛和飛機引擎的噪音之外，其餘時段大多是一片靜謐。只有在清晨和夜間，偶爾能聽見鳥兒與昆蟲細微的鳴叫聲。
